In November of 2019, Stinky Craft was born. The Cube Public SMP had shut its doors and in order to remain close a few smelly minecraft players decided to form their own server. The original members were: Pokahydee, PaulyPants, Monsterlashing, Singing Hawk, MythyPanda, SingingHawk, Legendary Cossack, LoveGem, and OiBiznatch. The name Stinky was chosen from an inside joke where that is what we fondly called each other. Throughout the five seasons of Stinky Craft, we have switched between modded and plugin based gameplay.
In the first season we used plugins utilizing Java 1.15. We brought in our builds from The Cube Public SMP using the world downloads. It was our first time running a server so it was learn as we go.
We had a short intermission between Season 1 and Season 2 where we attempted to play some modded Minecraft using a mish-mash of cool mods that we wanted to play around with, we had to admit defeat because the lag was too great.
In the second we played Vanilla on Java 1.16 nether snapshot. As each snapshot was released, we upgraded the server to the latest, this included working around any bugs that were introduced during the development process. We also gave access to creative mode in the beginning so everyone could build their own pathway to their nether portal using the new blocks for a massive nether highway.
In season three we started playing with mods utilizing, the popular X-Life modpack, created by LDShadowLady. It was also the first season to have lore.
"There once was a Dark Wizard named Paulous who sought out to make the world ugly. A queen by the name of PokaGodess was given a crystal passed down through her family to protect from the dark wizard who rules the underworld. With this crystal Paulous could bring destruction and mayhem turning the world ugly. PokaGodess hid this crystal in the dark forest of a land called Stinky Craft where Paulous could never go. In order to keep it that way the world must be filled with pretty things. PokaGodess is asking for your help. Will you strive to make the world pretty? Or turn dark side and spread filth? The journey is up to you."
In season four we went back to plugins using 1.16 it was the first time we made a trailer for a season. We beefed up spawn and added too the lore of the season as we were crash landed on this land called Malodorous. Spawn had several little Easter eggs including a Subnautica-inspired underwater base that dug down into the core of the planet in order to power the station. There was also a custom created jetpack plugin created by the amazing Kurtymckurt that could be purchased at spawn with diamonds.
In this upcoming season number five we will once again be using plugins on 1.16. This season will be the hardest season yet! It includes leveled mobs; a wild new world generation with enormous trees, freshly designed structures, and an amazing spawn area; it also includes a new addition of The Despair.
